Around the world, countries have adapted health policies of different magnitudes ever since their exposure to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Cough Cough is an interactive game in which players can learn and discover the various mitigation policies undertaken by different nations during the COVID-19 pandemic by making the decisions & seeing the results firsthand as the health director of their own imaginary nation. The decisions made are designed to educate people about the policymaking during the pandemic along with how they can do their part like getting vaccinated.
How to Play
Imagine that you are the health director of an imaginary nation and you have just received news of the virus spreading rapidly. You will be given a number of decisions to make that will affect your country's health metrics and your goal is to: prevent the death count from reaching above 10,000, prevent the hospital capacity from overfilling, and preventing the virus positivity rate surpasses 50% (meaning that 1 in 2 people has the virus). If any of that happens, your country is not very healthy and the pandemic is out of control so you lose. Survive the pandemic by maintaining the health of your nation for 12 months.

Result of Your DecisionLoosening restrictions while there is no major immunity and the virus is still prominent is certainly not a good idea. In the United States, the CDC recommended families not travel for Thanksgiving & the December holiday season, yet still, for Thanksgiving alone, there were 10 million people that traveled by air. In just two weeks following, cases and hospitalizations increased by about 20%, and the deaths jumped 39%.
